Ann Arbor Drupal Web Design and Development

Commercial Progression has deep roots in the Ann Arbor web design, technology, and entrepreneurship communities.  We also bleed maize and blue pride for the Drupal web design and development work we do for Ann Arbor’s own University of Michigan. Recent projects include the School of Kinesiology, Office of Procurement and the Ross School of Business.

Whether you get to know us as fellow open source web professionals or as our next web development client, we look forward to meeting you in Ann Arbor Michigan.

Ann Arbor Young Professionals

With close to 3000 members, the Ann Arbor young professionals meetup group is a longstanding symbol of the thriving entrepreneurship culture of Southeast Michigan. Founded by Alex Fisher near the inception of Commercial Progression in 2008, this meetup group marks the beginning of our leadership in the professional technology communities of Ann Arbor.

Michigan Drupal User Group

Michigan Drupal is the premier Drupal user group for the region, and is often hosted in downtown Ann Arbor at venues like Ann Arbor Spark.  With over 400 active users, the Michigan Drupal User Group is one of the strongest software development groups in Ann Arbor.

Ann Arbor is also host to the A2 Drupal user group that focuses on the specific conversations of the Ann Arbor open source Drupal CMS community.

Speaking of Design User Group

In 2011 we launched the Speaking of Design meetup group to foster a rich design conversation for Ann Arbor professionals. We love to team up with other other local design firms for a robust discussion with like minded designers. In 2015 we were fortunate to be hosted by Atomic Object for Matt Fletcher’s research driven design presentation.

Ann Arbor Spark Shifting Code

Involvement in the Ann Arbor software development communities has brought us many unique opportunities to collaborate with and give back to Michigan’s software industry.  In January of 2011 we teamed up with Ann Arbor Spark, the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, Washtenaw County Michigan Works!, and Washtenaw Community College to launch Shifting Code. This popular 12 week software development program successfully trained 110 new developers from an application pool of over 700. One very important member of that first cohort was our very own Chris Keller. His Drupal talent's were immediately recognized, hired, and given the opportunity to grow into a senior Drupal developer with us today.

"I was pleased to work with Ann Arbor SPARK in building Shifting Code, not only as a chance to give back to the community, but we also found our next employee through the program," says Alex Fisher, chief executive officer and founder of Commercial Progression and Drupal instructor at Washtenaw Community College.
